Arches Watercolor Paper
Arches Watercolor Paper is one of the finest papers made anywhere in the world. It literally sets the standard for quality watercolor paper.
Made at the Arches mill in France, which has been in continuous operation since 1492. Everything about this paper is superior quality. Archival and completely acid-free, Arches is mouldmade out of 100% cotton rags, a process that produces a sheet with a random, unique texture, almost akin to a handmade sheet. Compare this to the flat, mechanical texture imprinted on machine-made paper, and you can see that a blank piece of Arches paper is a work of art in itself.
Sized with gelatin, which allows the paper to stay wet longer, giving you more time to blend and blur your watercolors. The sizing also gives the surface a robust, tough quality. Arches will never disintegrate with erasing, and also allows you to blot and scrub the paint film much more than with flimsier paper.
Watercolorists rely on Arches, but it is terrific for many media. Acrylics and gouache paint produce excellent results, as well as any type of ink. Arches is also a wonderful surface for drawing and mixed media. Works well with pencil, charcoal, soft pastel and crayon.
With two tones of white, three exquisite surfaces and two different weights, Arches will give you endless creative freedom. We offer a full line of Arches papers, in many unique sizes. Treat yourself to the quality of Arches - you will see an amazing difference in your art!
